Students at WVSU College Day

Clay County High School students traveled to West Virginia State University on Monday, September 28, to participate in College Day, an event designed to help students explore the many opportunities available to them after high school.

Throughout the event, students had the opportunity to meet and speak with representatives from a wide variety of colleges, universities, employers, and branches of the United States military.

Representatives from both two-year and four-year institutions throughout West Virginia and surrounding states were on hand, giving students the chance to learn more about academic programs, admissions, financial aid, and campus life. This year’s event also included representatives from three Ivy League institutions.

All branches of the U.S. military were represented, providing students with information about military service, career opportunities, education benefits, and other pathways available following graduation.

New to College Day this year was a section dedicated to employers from across West Virginia. This addition gave students another valuable opportunity to explore careers available within the state and learn more about the skills and education needed to pursue them.

West Virginia State University went above and beyond to provide an outstanding experience for our students. The variety of opportunities and representatives made this one of the best College Day events our students have attended in recent years.

Clay County Schools would like to thank West Virginia State University for hosting such a wonderful event and WV GEAR UP for making this trip possible for our students.

Experiences like College Day help students see the many possibilities that await them after graduation and give them an opportunity to begin thinking about the path that is right for their future.
