On May 1, four talented musicians from the Clay County High School music department attended Glenville State University’s 17th Annual Honor Band. These students auditioned for chair placements, showcasing their musical skills, abilities, and dedication. Their successful auditions earned them the honor of performing alongside outstanding student musicians from schools across West Virginia.

Representing Clay County High School were senior Caleb L., who performed on baritone; senior Lilliann S., clarinet; senior Rebekah C., clarinet; and sophomore Abigail G., flute. The selected music provided the students with an excellent opportunity to demonstrate their musicianship under the direction of Debra Price, former West Virginia Teacher of the Year.

The concert performance took place on May 2, with the Clay County High School Steel Band serving as the opening act. The group performed an energetic set outdoors in the courtyard of the Glenville State University Fine Arts Center, helping to kick off a memorable event celebrating student musical talent from across the state.

Clay County Schools congratulates these students on this outstanding achievement and for representing their school and community with pride and professionalism. Their hard work, dedication, and passion for music continue to make the Panther community proud.
